Urban Dish provides a dining experience that satisfies a need for superior food and a phenomenal cocktail program. 

Since changing ownership 5 years ago, this upscale but unpretentious locale has been receiving accolades and has a reputation of being one of the highest rated restaurants north of Toronto.  Through passion and a love for exceptional flavours, Owner Jennifer LeGallais has assembled a group of likeminded individuals that aim to bring her dream to life.

Their executive Chef, Dennis Thornton, has a vision and passion for food that pulls creative inspiration from local and abroad.

Urban Dish’s cocktail and bar program rivals anything you would find in downtown Toronto. Their Mixologist, Kevin Harris, exceeds local standards when serving up his handcrafted cocktails.  He provides a “wow” worthy experience that will leave you thirsting for more.  Think you don’t like Gin or Tequila? Think again!  He mixes up his own brand of specialty and classic cocktails that are sure to tempt and impress you.

Dennis has been humbly working at his craft for 27 years and joined the UD team in January of 2015. This student of culinary artistry fearlessly endeavors to tantalize taste buds with global flavours.  Dennis keeps up with the local demand for an exceptional culinary experience as he leads his squad with dedication to the mastery of cooking.


A well-rounded service industry professional, Dennis strives to entice his guests with thoughtful and well- balanced plates. Having had a passion for art and graphic design as a youth, one can clearly see how he still finds room for that in different components of his dishes.


An active and playful father of two boys, Dennis believes in a work/life balance and has a very calm, cool, and collected temperament.  If you ask Jennifer, Dennis’ personality lends to the most approachable and accommodating chef she’s had the pleasure of working with.


General Manager

With more than two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Kevin joined Urban Dish in Sept of 2016 by way of our neighbours down under…the US of A. Prior to his move he previously managed the bar for celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse at e2 in Charlotte, North Carolina.


Kevin began his career in Los Angeles in the early 1990’s and has crafted his skills and knowledge in the likes of Denver, Chicago, Detroit and Las Vegas. His experience comes from working in and managing a variety of establishments from fine dining and hotels to casinos and local pubs. Kevin’s expertise, inspiration and passion, though, lie behind the bar.


You’ll often hear him say, “We’re not drinking, we’re learning!” and Kevin’s stories about his craft are endless. He describes his style as “sophisticated, but simple and approachable” and his goal is simple…to give you an experience.  “You can get the everyday basics anywhere outside our doors but when you’re here, just try something different. You won’t be disappointed!” And we wholeheartedly agree!



Born and raised in Barrie, Jennifer is no stranger to the numerous restaurants this city imparts on us.  Having a hunger (and thirst!) for an exceptional dining experience, Jen has raised the bar since taking over Urban Dish in 2012. 


To make a good restaurant great, it takes superb food, outstanding cocktails, and remarkable service. Jen intuitively knew that Barrie was in need of a place that was top in all three categories.


Whether it be the securing of the area’s only mixologist or her sought after chef, Jennifer has built a team of people that strive to exceed expectations in every facet of the business. With a little patience and a lot of perseverance (and maybe even a tiny dose of insanity), Jen has had the fortitude to turn Urban Dish into one of the most prominent establishments this city has to offer.
